Dr. Nathaniel Shober, ND
Dr. Nathaniel Shober, ND was trained and received his doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University, in Washington State, where he graduated in 2016. His undergraduate studies were completed at Loyola University, in Chicago, IL, in education and anthropology. He moved to New Hampshire in November of 2017.
Healing Power of Nature
After Dr. Shober graduated from Loyola University and taught 4th grade in the inner city of Chicago, he was pulled west to the mountain wilderness of Washington State and became a park ranger for the National Park Service. He spent several seasons as a ranger at North Cascades National Park and Denali National Park in Alaska, where he educated the public on the value of wilderness and natural spaces, fought fires, and patrolled the backcountry. It was during his time spent in the wilderness, studying the medicinal plants of the Northwest, that he became inspired to go to school to become a naturopathic doctor.
At Bastyr, he learned how to harness and share the healing power of nature in order to help unlock and individual’s healing potential. True health is experienced when healthy relationships, meaningful interactions, self-reflection, nutrition, physical movement, and mental and emotional wellness is all a part of ones life. Dr. Shober aims to make sure these foundations are in place to achieve healing.
Dr. Shober’s specific medical interests are in treating anxiety and depression, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, natural stress relief, weight loss/gain, GI illnesses, musculoskeletal injuries, and in optimizing athletic performance.
Dr. Shober has advanced training in intravenous (IV) nutritional therapy and manages the IV department at NCFH. In addition, Dr. Shober utilizes hydrotherapy techniques, hands on myofascial and craniosacral therapies, biofeedback, and botanical medicine.
In creating a tailored treatment program, Dr. Shober aims to optimize an individual’s health through integrating modalities that have a synergistic effect.
Dr. Shober ran cross country and track at the collegiate level, and continues to enjoy various forms of fitness activities including strength training, cycling, and trail running and hiking. His dog and daughter also keep him active as they enjoy adventure walks in the wilderness.
